When on vacation there are several things which you’re after – a beautiful location, great weather, friendly people, plenty of memories, but most of all a fantastic hotel. The Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage offers all this and more.
The views of the stunning Bernese Alps, more particularly Jungfrau, are simply amazing. Switzerland is synonymous for its beautiful mountainous regions, and by staying in Interlaken you’re able to soak in and truly observe this world class landscape. From Interlaken, day trips to the surrounding areas are very accessible due to the close proximity of the hotel to the station and the efficiency of the rail network.

The Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage is a five star hotel with a quaint European feel. While the hotel is a 5 star, it doesn’t come across as too opulent for the sake of being high-end, as it offers a warm and friendly service with a high class touch.
Originally we had been booked into the Comfort Double, though as a welcome surprise upon arrival we had been upgraded to the more luxurious Junior Suite which looked amazing.
The room consists of a Queen size bed, a bath (with shower), Nepresso machine, closet space for luggage, and the best part of all was a sitting room which was very similar to a sun room. The sitting room was definitely the highlight; it opened up the space and created a large sense of freedom and movement within the room.
We could have spent hours in that sitting room relaxing and taking in the scenery as from that room you gain a 180 degree view of the city. The advantage of this room and the view which is gained from it, is that you can take cityscape photos directly from your room. The sitting room came in handy in the morning and the afternoon when trying to take sunrise and sunset photos, as I could casually stroll over to my camera in my bath robe to take a quick snap or two.
The room also comes with a coffee machine for espresso coffee, a fruit bowl which is replenished daily, Swiss mineral water, and even a few treats of chocolate, lollies in the shape of love hearts, and ginger spiced gummy bears. It may not sound like much, but these little touches really do make you feel at home.
As expected the staff were fabulous and always willing to help. Each morning and afternoon housekeeping would visit to check whether everything was fine with the room, with the best part of their visit being that that they’d come with a few biscuits to brighten your day.
The landscape around the hotel is phenomenal. The Aare River, one of the longest rivers in Switzerland runs next to the hotel. Additionally the Interlaken train station is very close (5 min walk from station), which is quite handy as it makes travelling to the surrounding areas of Interlaken very easy.
Additionally, the hotel is about a one minute walk to the cable cart which will take you to the top of Harder Klum. At Harder Klum you’re able to gain a view of all of Interlaken and the surrounding lakes of the area.
Restaurant wise, there is a restaurant inside the hotel, so you don’t need to leave the grounds to eat if you don’t want to. However, if you want to stretch your legs and check out the area, there are plenty of restaurants around with a choice of cuisine from Italian, Indian, Pakistani, Turkish, Chinese, Vietnamese, and Korean.
We’ve been in China for just short of 1 year now. While being able to eat Western food isn’t rare, it isn’t particularly common in the city of China we live in of Yangzhou. We’ve had buffets in China, but the food is usually still designed more for a Chinese palette. So having the opportunity to have a full Western buffet was the stuff of dreams for us.
To say that we enjoyed the buffet would be an understatement. The food was exceptional, a great way to start the day. The only thing we regret is that we should have eaten more!
At the buffet you’ll find eggs, bacon, pancakes, fruit, shaved meats, breads, and even an assortment of cheeses.
When choosing to treat yourself to a nice hotel, you’re not only paying for the room, but for the experience of staying at the hotel. The mantra of most high-end hotels is for you to be able to walk away from having stayed at the hotel, not wanting to leave.
The Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage provides full access to a Finnish Sauna, pool, a solarium and a gym. The facilities on offer are a welcome treat to help you unwind.
Lexi and I both enjoyed our stay at the Lindner Grand Hotel Beau Rivage. The service was amazing, while the room provided you with not only space and comfort, but a place to relax and enjoy the surrounding scenery. If you’re looking for a place to stay in Interlaken, we highly recommend Linder and the junior room. The views of the city from the sitting room of the Aare river, the mountains and the city were breathtaking.
